Private: Clean bench grand model
Simulate a lab environment in a microgravity environment for JEM shared experimental facilities
The clean bench grand model simulates a space for operating life science experiments using the JEM shared experimental facilities in a microgravity environment and for microscopic observations.
This is used for crew training and for experiment feasibility confirmation tests.
This has the same specs as the clean bench flight model. This uses temperature control, phase-contrast/fluorescent microscope and internal surveillance camera.
Note: Japanese Experiment Module or JEM is another moniker for Kibo, Japan’s manned space facility
